Okay, this one may seem a bit weird to people, but bare with me here. If you haven’t heard of Spirulina it’s an amazing alternative meatless protein source for vegans. Not only that but this ancient blue-green algae was used by the Aztecs as an ingredient in cakes and broths in the 16th century. Spirulina contains around 55% to 77% protein in its dry form and also contains all 5 essential amino acids for the human body. There are many more health benefits of Spirulina when it is added to your diet such as its strong anti viral properties, which helps with candida overgrowth. It may even prevent some forms of cancers.

  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raw raw pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds
  • 1 tsp powdered spirulina
  • 1/2 cup instant oatmeal
  • 1 banana mashed or whipped up in a blender
  • 2 large dates or 4 -6 small dates (until sweetened to desired taste)
  • 1 tbsp of organic vanilla extract
  • 1/4 crushed raw walnuts (or another favourite nut)
  • 2 tsp cacao powder
  • 2 tsp of cacao nibs
  • 1 tsp of carob nibs
  • add water to make stickier (as needed)

Add all ingredients in a food processor or mash by hand. Roll into balls, which you can then roll in carob, cacao powder, or raw shredded coconut for extra flavour if you prefer.

Additional Optional Ingredients:
